ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 4th Sep, 2026) In line with the directives of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, a mock fire drill was conducted at Parliament House on Friday to test emergency preparedness, review existing safety arrangements and assess the response capabilities of relevant departments in the event of a fire or other emergency.
Officials from the Capital Development Authority (CDA), ICT Fire Brigade, Senate and National Assembly security staff, and other concerned departments participated in the exercise and carried out their assigned responsibilities.
The drill began with the sounding of the fire alarm, following which employees and staff inside the building promptly evacuated the premises through designated emergency exits and moved to safe locations in accordance with prescribed safety procedures.
The exercise provided a practical assessment of evacuation procedures, firefighting and rescue arrangements, as well as coordination among the institutions responsible for responding to emergencies.
Fire brigade and security personnel performed their duties according to standard operating procedures, while the safe and orderly evacuation of employees was also evaluated.
The drill was aimed at further strengthening emergency safety arrangements at Parliament House and ensuring the protection of employees, officers, visitors and other persons present in the building. It also helped assess the effectiveness of existing evacuation procedures and coordination mechanisms to facilitate a swift and organised response during any untoward incident.
The exercise provided an opportunity for the concerned departments to identify areas requiring improvement and reinforce preparedness so that timely and effective action could be taken in case of an actual emergency.
