MIRPUR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 4th Sep, 2026) The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has announced intensifying its “Save Yasin Malik” and “Justice for Yasin Malik” campaigns, while condemning what it described as the “false implication” of its incarcerated chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik in a 36-year-old murder case involving Kashmiri Pandit woman Sarla Bhat. In a statement issued on Friday, JKLF Chief Spokesman Muhammad Rafiq Dar said the party leadership had expressed serious concern over the development and resolved to pursue the campaigns with renewed vigour.
According to the statement, an emergency consultative meeting of the JKLF central office-bearers was held to discuss the situation following the submission of a 25-page affidavit by Yasin Malik from Tihar Jail to an additional sessions court in Srinagar.
The meeting was attended by Acting Chairman Raja Haq Nawaz Khan, Head of Diplomatic Bureau Prof Raja Zafar Khan, Central Vice Chairman Saleem Haroon, Chief Organiser Sabir Gul, Central Secretary Finance Khawaja Manzoor A. Chishti, Deputy Secretary General Javed Hanif and Chief Spokesman Muhammad Rafiq Dar.
The leadership endorsed the affidavit and said the details presented by Malik regarding the Sarla Bhat case and the 1990 exodus of Kashmiri Pandits represented his position on the matter.
The JKLF spokesman said the organisation would continue its worldwide campaigns to garner international support for Malik’s release. He appealed to world leaders and human rights organisations to take notice of what the party described as the persecution of a political leader for his longstanding political beliefs. The JKLF leadership also expressed sympathy with Mushaal Hussain Mullick and solidarity with Malik’s daughter, Razia Sultana, in connection with the circumstances surrounding the affidavit.
The statement said the Kashmir dispute had resulted in prolonged political and human suffering on both sides of the Line of Control. The JKLF reiterated its stated commitment to seeking a peaceful and early resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with what it described as the wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, through the exercise of their right to self-determination.
