DERA GHAZI KHAN, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 3rd Sep, 2026) Two alleged members of the notorious Palu Gang were killed by firing from their own accomplices during a police encounter in the limits of Sakhi Sarwar police station, while two others managed to escape, police said on Thursday.
The encounter took place in the Rakh Choti Dilana area after police received information about the presence of armed criminals in the locality.
A police team comprising DSP Sadr, SHOs of Sakhi Sarwar, Gadai, Sadr and Darahma police stations, along with other officials, immediately launched an operation and chased the suspects.
During the operation, an exchange of fire took place between the police and the armed suspects. Two suspects managed to flee from the scene. After the firing stopped, police launched a search operation and found two of the alleged gang members dead, apparently hit by bullets fired by their own fleeing accomplices.
The deceased were identified as Rafique alias Rafi Laghari and Saddam Rohaila.
Police said Rafique Laghari was wanted in more than 17 criminal cases, while Saddam Rohaila, an alleged inter-district robber, was involved in over 38 serious cases registered at police stations in different districts.
District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ghazi Khan rushed to the scene after receiving information about the encounter. He reviewed the ongoing operation and sought details of the incident from the police officers present there.
Police recovered weapons and a motorcycle from the possession of the deceased suspects and took them into custody as evidence.
A search operation and blockade have been launched in the area to trace and arrest the two fleeing suspects.
The DPO directed police officers to ensure the early arrest of the escaped suspects and further intensify operations against criminal elements in the district.
