DG KHAN, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 3rd Sep, 2026) Police at the Sakhi Sarwar check post and police station arrested 143 Afghan nationals during August for attempting to illegally enter Punjab, officials said.
On the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ghazi Khan, checking at entry and exit points across the district has been tightened. Strict checking of suspicious vehicles and individuals continued at the Sakhi Sarwar check post, during which action was taken against Afghan nationals attempting to enter Punjab illegally.
Separately, the check post also conducted extensive operations against non-customs-paid goods.
Items recovered during the crackdown included diesel, vehicles, Iranian cloth, tyres, cigarettes, betel nuts, shampoo, mobile phones and detergent, among other articles.
The total value of the recovered non-customs-paid goods was estimated at Rs72,941,905. The recovered goods were handed over to the customs authorities for legal action.
On the DPO’s instructions, checking at the Sakhi Sarwar check post has been further intensified to prevent illegal movement, smuggling and transportation of non-customs-paid goods. Action against law-breakers would continue without discrimination.
