ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 4th Sep, 2026) Rain-wind/thundershowers with isolated heavy to very heavy falls are expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Friday, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said.
According to the PMD forecast, hot and humid weather is likely to prevail in southern parts of the country.
The Met Office warned that heavy rainfall during the period from September 3 night to September 5 could cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore and Sialkot.
It also cautioned that heavy rains may trigger flash flooding in local streams and nullahs of Kashmir, Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi and the Potohar region.
Landslides may also occur in hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galiyat and Kashmir, it added.
In Islamabad and adjoining areas, partly cloudy weather with rain-wind/thundershowers is expected, with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall during the period.
In Punjab, rain-wind/thundershowers are expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, Attock, Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Faisalabad, Jhang, Okara, Wazirabad, Hafizabad and Kasur, with isolated heavy to very heavy falls likely during night/morning.
Light to moderate rain-wind/thundershowers are expected in Noorpur Thal, Layyah, Bhakkar, Taunsa, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal and Dera Ghazi Khan during evening/night.
Several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Dir, Swat, Shangla, Chitral, Kohistan, Battagram, Buner, Nowshera, Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Malakand, Mohmand, Khyber, Bajaur, Kohat, Hangu, Kurram, Karak, Bannu, Tank, Waziristan and Lakki Marwat, are also expected to receive rain-wind/thundershowers, with isolated heavy to very heavy falls.
Most districts of Sindh and Balochistan are likely to remain hot and humid. Partly cloudy conditions with drizzle are expected in coastal areas of Sindh, including Karachi, while rain-wind/thundershowers are likely in Zhob, Musakhel, Barkhan, Khuzdar and adjoining areas during evening/night.
Cloudy weather with rain-wind/thundershowers and isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
During the last 24 hours, rain-wind/thundershowers occurred at isolated places in Islamabad, northeast Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while southern parts of the country remained hot and humid.
Islamabad’s Zero Point received 27 mm of rainfall, Saidpur 19 mm and Golra 14 mm, while Shamsabad in Rawalpindi received 18 mm. Bagrote in Gilgit-Baltistan recorded 25 mm.
The highest maximum temperature of 44C was recorded at Nokkundi, while Bhakkar and Dalbandin recorded 43C.
