MULTAN, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 3rd Sep, 2026) A child died of severe electric shock after he came into contact with the wire
of an electricity meter while playing in the street at Basti Ahel Pur, Dunyapur
road, in the city’s outskirts on Thursday.
Rescue 1122 spokesman, quoting witnesses, said that Muhammad Areeb,
who looks to be of the age of 5-6, had died on the spot. Rescuers had rushed
to the spot by an ambulance and motorcycle, and immediately performed
cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) but the child could not survive.
A photograph of the electricity meter showed the wire was covered by
some sticking tape but it seems some part of it was uncovered which
the child touched while playing.
His body was sent to DHQ hospital Multan located on Muzaffargarh road.
Rescue 1122 officials have advised parents to keep checking their electricity
wiring and get it redone or repair when needed. Moreover, they also asked
parents not to touch faulty or uncovered wire and keep children away from
electricity meters and wires.
