ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 3rd Sep, 2026) World-renowned British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan has announced a major boxing event in Pakistan to promote the sport in the country.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Khan said the event will be held on Saturday and entry will be completely free to allow maximum public participation.
He added that two British-Pakistani boxers will also compete in the event. In a landmark move, a female boxer will also fight on the card, providing a significant opportunity for women in Pakistan to showcase their talent in the ring.
Speaking about the potential of boxing in Pakistan, Amir Khan said, “Pakistan has immense boxing talent.
Boxing events are being held all over the world, including in India, but the real talent lies in Pakistan. We need government support to develop boxing. I also visited Lyari, where there is tremendous boxing talent. Pakistan has a huge population and a lot of talent can emerge from here.”
Khan further revealed that he had also discussed the promotion of boxing in Pakistan during a meeting with former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
“My complete focus is on Pakistan. I want Pakistani boxers to get the opportunity to make a name for themselves at the international level,” he said.
