ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 3rd Sep, 2026) Preparations for a four-day special polio vaccination campaign, scheduled from September 21 to 24, 2026, were reviewed during a meeting of the District Polio Eradication Committee chaired by Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Memon.
Officials were informed that all 80 union councils of the Federal capital will be covered, with a target of administering polio drops to 447,614 children.
The meeting examined arrangements and operational plans for the upcoming anti-polio drive in detail. Officials briefed participants on campaign preparations, field deployment plans, and coordination measures aimed at ensuring complete coverage across Islamabad.
According to the briefing, the special campaign will run from September 21 to September 24 and will cover all 80 union councils of the federal capital. Health teams have been assigned to reach households and administer polio vaccine drops to children under the campaign target.
Participants also reviewed the performance of the previous polio campaign and assessed areas where challenges were reported. Officials discussed ways to improve outreach and strengthen monitoring mechanisms to ensure that every eligible child is reached during the upcoming drive.
The meeting considered administrative and field-level strategies to enhance the effectiveness of the campaign.
Discussions focused on team deployment, supervision, data monitoring, and coordination among relevant departments involved in the vaccination effort.
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Memon directed officials to complete the training of polio teams and finalize all field preparations before the campaign begins. He stressed the importance of ensuring that operational arrangements are in place so that vaccination activities can proceed without interruption.
He emphasized that no child should be left out of the vaccination campaign and instructed authorities to closely monitor field performance throughout the four-day exercise.
The deputy commissioner also directed officials to ensure daily reviews of polio teams’ performance in all union councils. He said regular monitoring would help identify issues promptly and support timely corrective measures during the campaign.
Appealing to parents, Irfan Memon urged families to fully cooperate with polio workers and vaccination teams. He said community support remains essential for protecting children from polio and achieving the campaign’s target across Islamabad.
The meeting concluded with a commitment from all stakeholders to work together to ensure the successful implementation of the September 2026 special anti-polio campaign and strengthen efforts toward a polio-free future for children in the federal capital.
