DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 2nd Sep, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Hikmatullah Khan has said construction of two flyovers in Dera Ismail Khan was progressing at a fast pace, with the Tank Adda flyover expected to be completed by December 2026 and the Sabzi Mandi flyover by 2027.
Talking to journalists here at his office, the deputy commissioner said the projects were aimed at improving traffic flow in the city and easing congestion at major intersections.
He said the district administration had completed the cleaning of major drains and sewerage channels ahead of the forecast rains, while work on some drains was still in progress. The Public Health Engineering Department was also working to improve the sewerage network, he added.
Hikmatullah said the government had directed the administration to promote local businesses through digital platforms. In this regard, the “Dera Zone” website would be launched within the next one or two weeks to facilitate online shopping and provide local businesses with an online marketplace.
He said that the electricity theft was a national crime and the administration had constituted tehsil-level teams for recovery of outstanding dues owed to the Peshawar Electric Power Company (Pesco). The teams had started operations in different areas, he added.
The deputy commissioner said the administration, in collaboration with the District Youth Office, was providing training in seven digital skills to young people aged 15 to 25 under the “NextGen and Smart Skills Youth Hub” project.
The training, to be held at the Government College of Commerce and Management Sciences, would include graphic designing, artificial intelligence and freelancing, among other skills. Registration for the programme had already been completed, he said.
