May 9 Violence Case: Court Adjourns Dewan’s Bail Plea


LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 1st Sep, 2026) An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday adjourned until tomorrow the hearing of a post-arrest bail petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan in a case involving allegedly provocative speeches and arson at Sherpao Bridge on May 9.

The court directed the police to produce the complete record of the case at the next hearing after additional time was sought to submit the case record.

ATC Judge Malik Abid Hussain conducted the proceedings on the bail petition.

Dewan is currently in jail on judicial remand and has been arrested in FIR No. 97/23 registered at Sarwar Road Police Station.

According to the investigating officer, the PTI leader was present at the scene of the incident and was allegedly involved in making speeches and acts of arson and vandalism at Sherpao Bridge. The prosecution further alleges that he participated in the violence along with other PTI leaders.
