LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 1st Sep, 2026) Lahore General Hospital (LGH) Medical Superintendent Prof Dr Faryad Hussain on Tuesday

said the smoke emerged from a plastic fan after it overheated in the gynaecology unit but

the situation was brought under control within 10 minutes through a timely response by

the hospital staff.

Prof Dr Faryad Hussain said the affected room had only four beds, of which two were occupied

while the other two were vacant. Both patients were immediately shifted to a safe place by

the staff, and no loss or damage occurred.

training for the past one week to deal with emergency situations, which enabled them to respond

promptly to the incident.

The MS appreciated the bravery of security guard Hamid, who helped shift the patients to

safety, and announced a cash reward and certificate of appreciation for him.

Prof Dr Faryad Hussain said encouraging employees who put themselves at risk to save the lives

of others was essential.

He reiterated that patient safety and protection of life and property would remain the hospital

administration’s top priority, while strict implementation of safety SOPs would continue

in all departments.

The MS also constituted a four-member committee to review electrical wiring and other safety

measures in the hospital.

Prof Dr Nudrat Sohail also reached the affected area immediately after receiving information

about the incident.
