ATTOCK, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 1st Sep, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Attock Dr. Mudassir Ahmed Shah on Tuesday directed all relevant departments to strengthen coordination and take effective measures to maintain peace and security, uphold the rule of law and protect the lives and property of citizens. He called for intensified action against illegal activities and stressed that violators of the law should be dealt with without discrimination.
He was chairing a meeting of the District Peace and Security Coordination Committee at the DC Office, attended by DPO Attock Ali Bin Tariq, Additional Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners and senior officers of relevant departments.
The meeting reviewed the overall law and order situation and examined the performance of various departments in enforcing the law during August and the current month. Officials said 11,256 traffic challans were issued from August 1 to 30, with fines totalling Rs16.650 million, compared with 14,479 challans and Rs18.867 million in fines during the previous month. In action against illegal petrol pumps, 32 outlets were sealed and Rs300,000 in fines imposed during the current month, compared with 42 sealed outlets and Rs585,000 in fines previously.
During August, 78 violations involving illegal LPG decanting were reported, 66 points sealed and Rs200,000 in fines imposed, while no FIR was registered.
The meeting was further informed that 72 permanent and 315 temporary/soft encroachments were removed during August, with Rs268,700 in fines imposed.
Under the electricity theft campaign, 18 illegal connections were detected, 13 FIRs registered, six suspects arrested and Rs0.8535 million recovered. On major highways, 15,599 suspected vehicles were checked, nine FIRs registered and nine suspects arrested. Regarding religious seminaries, officials said Attock had 502 madaris, including 202 registered and 300 unregistered, while 28 had so far been geo-tagged. In the anti-begging drive, six teams were deployed, resulting in 25 arrests and nine FIRs.
Officials also briefed the meeting on the performance of the Overseas Pakistanis Desk, saying 418 complaints had been received through the dashboard, of which 347 were resolved, 37 were pending before civil courts, 12 had been referred back and 22 remained pending. Regarding illegal foreigners, data of 30,537 individuals had been reported in different phases, with 20,005 having voluntarily returned and two currently present at the holding centre.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned officers to maintain strict vigilance over law-and-order matters, accelerate action against elements involved in illegal activities and ensure timely resolution of public complaints. He emphasized that close inter-departmental coordination, indiscriminate enforcement and prompt action were essential to maintaining peace, protecting citizens and strengthening public confidence in the administration.
