Mauritius Envoy Visits UoS To Explore Joint Campus, Degree Programmes

SARGODHA, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 31st Aug, 2026) Mauritius High Commissioner Munsoo Kurrimbaccus visited the University of Sargodha (UoS)

on Monday to explore collaboration between Pakistan and Mauritius in higher education, including

the establishment of a joint international-standard university campus, joint degree programmes,

academic and research initiatives, and faculty and student exchanges.

During the visit, the high commissioner met UoS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qaiser Abbas.

Director External Linkages Prof Dr Ejaz Asghar Bhatti was also present.

Briefing the high commissioner, Dr Abbas said the University of Sargodha had emerged

among the top 10 universities in Pakistan in education and research. He said the university

was pursuing a distinct academic vision focused on preparing students for future challenges

and introducing programmes with direct links to industry.

Mr Kurrimbaccus said he had visited several universities across Pakistan but found the

University of Sargodha particularly impressive for its academic standing, discipline and

infrastructure.

He appreciated the reforms and initiatives introduced under the leadership of vice chancellor

and said Mauritius was initiating research programmes with only two Pakistani universities —

the University of Karachi and the University of Sargodha.

The high commissioner said that although several leading Western universities had established

campuses in Mauritius, his country intended to begin a new academic partnership with UoS

in view of its performance and academic progress.

He said the Mauritius minister of education would soon visit Pakistan and sign a cooperation

agreement with the University of Sargodha.

During his visit, the high commissioner also toured various academic and administrative

departments of the university.
