ABBOTTABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 31st Aug, 2026) Pakistan’s first three-day 100-mile ultra trail race, Savage 100, was held in Galiyat from August 28 to 30, attracting 48 runners who tested their endurance on challenging mountain trails.
Organized by Extreme Adventures, the race was held along the Bridal Track from Namli Gali to Barmai Gali. Participants covered approximately 40 kilometres each day, with an elevation gain of more than 2,000 metres and a 12-hour time limit for each stage.
In the men’s category, GB Scouts’ Yaseen Karim secured first position. He completed the 40-kilometre third-day trail in four hours and 13 minutes, setting a national record for the distance. Ali Abbas and Muhammad Fida, also of GB Scouts, secured second and third positions.
In the women’s category, Selena Khawaja, Pakistan’s youngest mountaineer, won the race and became the first Pakistani woman to win a 100-mile ultra trail event.
She also became the youngest woman to achieve the feat.
Cancer survivor and athlete Ayesha Mastoor Butt finished second, while Iman Khan of DRC Running Club secured third position. The event also saw a notable achievement by 13-year-old Saim Abbas, who became Pakistan’s youngest ultra trail runner.
Meanwhile, participants demonstrated a strong spirit of teamwork. Usama bin Rehman assisted runners facing difficulties during the race, while Masood Khan also used his long-distance running experience to support fellow participants.
The race showcased Galiyat’s dense forests, mountain trails, green valleys, wildflowers and scenic landscapes.
The organisers said continued support from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and civil administration could help promote endurance sports and attract international ultra trail runners to Pakistan, potentially establishing Galiyat as a major international destination for mountain endurance sports.
