LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 30th Aug, 2026) Ameer-ud-Din Medical College (AMC) Principal Prof. Dr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal
said that nurses were an integral part of health sector and regular training workshops
were essential to enhance their professional skills in accordance with modern medical
requirements.
He expressed these views during a meeting with DMS Nursing Dr. Sundus Tahir and
Acting Deputy Chief Nursing Superintendent (DCNS) of Lahore General Hospital (LGH),
Saima Fateh, at his office on Sunday.
Prof. Farooq Afzal said that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif was taking
revolutionary steps to ensure the provision of the best medical facilities to patients
in hospitals. He said nurses constituted the backbone of every healthcare system
and their continuous professional training was vital for strengthening their capabilities
and expertise.
During the meeting, DMS Nursing Dr. Sundus Tahir gave a detailed briefing on the
operations and performance of the hospital’s Day Care Centre.
Acting DCNS Saima Fateh apprised the Principal about the daily working of nursing
staff, duty rosters and issues being faced by them.
Prof. Farooq Afzal assured the nursing administration that all official and administrative
problems of nurses would be resolved on a priority basis to enable them to perform
their duties without mental stress.
He said nurses were a shining example of service to suffering humanity, remaining
engaged day and night in caring for patients and alleviating their pain. He added that
nursing was not merely a profession but carried the status of worship.
“The compassionate attitude and good manners of nurses are equal to half the
treatment and instill hope of early recovery among patients,” he remarked.
Prof. Farooq Afzal said the administration would continue taking all possible measures
to ensure a conducive working environment and the welfare of nurses so that they
could serve humanity with greater passion, commitment and dedication.
