Health Minister Orders Strict Safety Compliance


FAISALABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 29th Aug, 2026) Punjab Minister for Health and Population Khawaja Imran Nazir, acting on the directives of Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz, made a surprise visit to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Bhowana after changing his scheduled programme.

He thoroughly inspected medical services, emergency facilities and fire-safety arrangements and directed hospital staff to ensure strict implementation of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

The provincial minister inspected the emergency department as well as various wards and other sections of the hospital to assess the quality of healthcare services and administrative arrangements being provided to patients.

During visit, Khawaja Imran Nazir also examined the hospital’s fire-safety system including fire alarms, fire extinguishers and emergency exit routes.

He directed the administration to ensure effective implementation of all fire-safety measures without compromise, emphasizing that safety arrangements in healthcare facilities must remain fully functional and accessible at all times.

The minister met patients and their attendants individually and inquired about the healthcare facilities being provided to them, their treatment and availability of medicines.

He expressed satisfaction over the provision of medicines to patients free of cost and stressed that the public should receive quality healthcare services without financial burden.

Khawaja Imran Nazir also gathered nurses and instructed them to ensure complete compliance with prescribed SOPs.

He particularly directed that standard procedures and safety protocols for the care of newborn babies must be implemented in letter and spirit.

He said that further surprise visits would be conducted to evaluate the standard of administrative affairs, medical facilities and safety arrangements at hospitals.

Any negligence in implementing safety protocols would not be tolerated, he warned.

The provincial minister stressed that effective implementation of fire-safety measures should be ensured at all costs and directed the hospital administration to keep emergency exits, alarms and firefighting equipment in proper working condition.

During his interaction with the hospital’s janitorial staff, Khawaja Imran Nazir also inquired about their salaries and other employment-related matters.

He assured the staff that their genuine issues would be addressed on priority basis.

He said that every legitimate requirement necessary for ensuring proper medical facilities would be fulfilled and asked hospital staff to bring any genuine shortage or problem to his notice.

The minister said that human-resource-related issues were being resolved on a priority basis, adding that the government was taking practical steps to improve healthcare services and working conditions in public hospitals.

He directed the hospital administration and medical staff to make every possible effort to translate Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz’s vision into reality and ensure that patients were provided dignified, safe and quality treatment.

“Provision of quality and free-of-cost healthcare facilities to the people is our mission”, Khawaja Imran Nazir said, reiterating the government’s commitment to strengthening public healthcare facilities and protecting the lives of patients, attendants and hospital staff.

Chief Executive Officer Health Dr Ahmad Shehzad and Medical Superintendent Dr Mursaleen were also present during minister’s visit.
