ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 23rd Aug, 2026) Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar Saturday chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation (CCoP).
CCoP approved the Restructuring Plan for Batch-I DISCOs (FESCO, GEPCO & IESCO), including carving out of DISCOs’ land assets to the government-owned Power Holding Company, as a holding company.
DPM/FM directed expeditious implementation of the Plan, stressing that government’s privatisation initiative will help improve quality of service provided by DISCOs & reduce losses.
The plan will be implemented through a Scheme of Arrangement (SoA) to be filed with SECP.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Minister Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, Adviser to PM on Privatisation Muhammad Ali, MoS for Finance and Railways, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Secretary Power, Secretary Privatisation Commission, Secretary Privatisation, Secretary Commerce, Secretary EAD and senior officials from Ministry of Finance, FBR and other relevant departments.
