HYDERABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 22nd Aug, 2026) Bazm-e-Rooh Rihan in its weekly series of literary sessions would hold an event to remember renowned poet Shamsheer-ul Haiidri on his 14th death anniversary.
General Secretary Bazm-e-Rooh Rihan Wahid Kaandhro informed here on Saturday that lireary seession will be held in the office of Anjuman Tajiran Qasimabad office.
Shamsheer-ul-Haidri, whose full name was Shamshir Ali Khawaja was born on September 15, 1931 in Badin District.
Shamsheer -ul Haidri received his Primary education in Badin and in 1948 he entered Sindh Madrasah al-Islam Karachi, where he was expelled from the school for striking.
In the year 1950, he left his education in half and returned to the village and could not complete matriculation.
After some time, he started studying again. He studied for some time in NGV School, Karachi, Noor Muhammad High School, Hyderabad and Lawrence School, Tando Bago.
He wrote a monograph titled “Poet for All Times and Independent poetry of Sindh”.
He also served as Assistant Editor in Mehran Magazine from 1956 to 1966, Editor of Naeen Zindagi, a monthly magazine published by the Information and Broadcasting Department of the Federal Government, from 1965 to 1977, Deputy Manager in Communication Information Cell by Federal Minister of Communications Mumtaz Bhutto in PPP government in 1977, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto in 1988.
From 1993 to 1995, he was also the secretary of the Sindhi Adabi board for two years.
Shamshir Al Hyderi was one of the founders of the Sindhi Aabi sangat.
He was appointed as the Secretary General of SindhiAdabi Sangat in 1956 after the resignation of the writer Ayaz Qadri from the position of Secretary General of Sindhi Adabi Board.
Shamshirul Hyderi was the host of many programs and mushairas of Radio Pakistan Hyderabad and Karachi.
He also wrote many plays and songs for radio.
When Sindhi programs were released on PTV, it was ptv which was the first Sindhi comparator and the first newscaster.
He dramatized Mirza Qalich Beg’s first novel ‘Zeenat’. Jackhio appeared on PTV under the hosting of Abdul Karim Baloch.
The first song aired on PTV was written by Shamshir Khan. Later, he wrote several documentaries and plays. One of his plays, Kak Mahal, became very popular.
In 1989, Begum Nusrat Bhutto appointed him as the editor of Daily Hilal Pakistan Karachi. Apart from him, he was also the editor of Daily ‘Momal’ Karachi, Saneeh Digest, Pars, Daily Khalq, Haftiwar Alan Haq and many other newspapers and magazines.
Shamsher, the founding member of the Sindh Graduates Association, the first administrator of Roshan Tara Schools, and the editor of the magazine Hayati published by SIGA, the founder member of the Pakistan Writers Guild, the general secretary of the Workers Union Hyderabad, the member of the executive committee of the West Pakistan Labor Federation, the member of the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, the member of the Film Censor Board, the member of the Council of Rulers of Pakistan, the member of the Press Club Karachi, and a journalist.
Badin who was also a lifetime honorary member. He Passed away in Karachi on 10th August 2012.
