MULTAN, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 22nd Aug, 2026) Secretary Agriculture Punjab Shakeel Ahmad Mian on Saturday chaired a high-level review meeting on cotton production and directed field formations to accelerate activities for providing technical guidance to growers at this critical stage of the crop.
Addressing key stakeholders during his first official visit to Multan since assuming charge, the Secretary emphasized that grassroots feedback from farmers and industry representatives was essential for shaping effective agricultural policies.
Shakeel Ahmad Mian assured that consultative sessions on major cash crops would continue on a regular basis, adding that timely departmental support during the current crop phase is vital to safeguard yield potential and boost the country’s textile sector.
The secretary directed field formations to accelerate ongoing activities aimed at providing technical guidance to farmers, stressing that timely support during this critical phase of the crop cycle was vital for safeguarding yield potential.
The meeting was attended by Pakistan Kissan Ittehad President Khalid Mahmood Khokhar, Dr Khalid Hameed, Syed Hassan Raza, and Dr Muhammad Iqbal Bandesha, who presented practical, experience-based suggestions to increase cotton yield and enhance profitability for farmers in South Punjab.
