NEW YORK, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM – 22nd Aug, 2026) The main US stock indexes closed higher on Friday, supported by strong gains in the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
Meanwhile, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite ended three-week winning streaks, while the Dow Jones posted losses for a second consecutive week.
Preliminary data showed the S&P 500 rising 32.94 points, or 0.43%, to close at 7,674.10 points, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 112.20 points, or 0.43%, to 26,179.37 points.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average also climbed 520.93 points, or 0.99%, to close at 53,280.14 points.
