LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 21st Aug, 2026) Philanthropists have demonstrated their trust in Lahore General Hospital (LGH) by handing over medicines valued Rs 50 lakh to the hospital administration.
The medicines will be distributed free of cost among OPD patients.
Speaking at the ceremony, Principal Postgraduate Medical Institute Prof Dr Farooq Afzal, said that those who selflessly serve suffering humanity are the real beauty and valuable assets of society.
He said that alongside government efforts, the support of affluent individuals for public hospitals is a commendable practice that provides immediate relief to poor patients and helps restore public confidence in state institutions.
Prof Farooq Afzal further stated that LGH is among the major healthcare facilities of Punjab, catering to thousands of patients daily. Such donations will ease the financial burden on the hospital administration and significantly improve the quality of treatment and care.
MS LGH Prof.Dr.Faryad Hussain assured that all donated medicines would be distributed with complete transparency exclusively to deserving patients. He added that the hospital pharmacy will provide uninterrupted medicine supply from 8 am to 8 pm daily for the convenience of more than 5,000 OPD patients who visit the hospital every day. Dr Samina Taufiq, Dr Amara Akhtar, Dr Kausar Shaheen, Dr Abdul Aziz, Saima Fateh, Adeel Sarfraz and other health professionals were also present on the occasion.
In a media interaction, Prof Farooq Afzal highlighted that mutual cooperation among the government, the medical community and philanthropists is the need of the hour for the improvement of public hospitals. The donors appreciated the discipline and performance of the hospital and reaffirmed their commitment to continue their support in the future.
