HYDERABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 21st Aug, 2026) The legal fraternity has elected advocate Shakir Nawaz Shar and advocate Abdul Razzaque Dars as President and General Secretary, respectively, of the District Bar Association Hyderabad by albeit with a slender margin of votes.
According to the results announced on Friday by the Returning Officer Amel Khan Kasi, Shar bagged 681 votes on the slot of the President, followed by 674 votes of advocate Abdul Malik Shaikh and 259 of advocate Shahzeb Abbassi.
Likewise, advocate Dars was polled 582 votes on the seat of General Secretary, which was contested by 4 lawyers, as advocate Naveed Jarwar trailed behind with a small difference of 7 votes.
The results of both the seats have been challenged with the runners-up calling for a recount. Meanwhile, advocate M Amir Qureshi emerged successful for the position of Vice President, receiving 611 votes as the second highest votes, 344, among the 6 contestants were given to advocate Ghulam Murtaza.
The slots of Joint Secretary and library Secretary were secured by advocates Faraz Kandhro and Abid Hussain Chang with a considerable margin of votes.
Advocate Pardeep Kumar Soni was elected on the seat of Treasurer with 498 votes, followed by advocates Abdul Ahad Kaka with 409 votes and Sohail Ahmed Solangi with 395 votes on a seat vied by 5 candidates.
As many as 22 lawyers had landed in the electoral fray for the 7 seats of Members Managing Committee (MMC). Among them, advocates Mehwish Qureshi, Ghulam Sarwar Vako, Taimoor Arain, Nazir Anwar, Azfar Bilal Memon, Sajjad Ahmed Abbassi and Mohsin Mirza returned successful.
