KARACHI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 20th Aug, 2026) Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab conducted a late-night visit to various areas of the city to review the prevailing civic situation.
Accompanied by officials of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation and other relevant departments, the Mayor visited different areas of I.I.Chundrigar Road, Kharadar, Mithadar and the Old City Areas, said a statement on Thursday.
He inspected ongoing beautification, road improvement and other development works at various locations and received detailed briefings from the concerned officials regarding the progress of these projects.
The Mayor also reviewed the condition of roads, streets, footpaths and other civic facilities and inspected cleanliness and municipal arrangements at different locations.
He directed the concerned officials to ensure that there was no compromise on the quality of development and rehabilitation works and that immediate measures be taken wherever citizens were facing difficulties.
Barrister Murtaza said that the Primary purpose of the late-night walk was to assess the city’s situation according to ground realities and listen directly to the complaints of citizens.
He said that it was not possible to fully assess the city’s problems by sitting in an office; therefore, he was personally visiting different areas to review the situation so that immediate and effective measures could be taken to resolve public issues.
He said that resolving citizens’ problems was their responsibility and that they would not rest until the issues being faced by the people were resolved.
The Mayor said that officials and staff of municipal institutions must fulfill their responsibilities to provide better civic facilities to citizens, and no negligence in addressing public complaints would be tolerated.
The Mayor also met citizens at various locations and inquired about their problems and complaints. The citizens apprised him of difficulties relating to roads, streets, cleanliness and other municipal matters. The Mayor immediately issued necessary instructions to the concerned officials and directed them to take practical measures for resolving the issues.
He said that monitoring of ongoing development and beautification works in different parts of Karachi would continue and that all relevant departments would have to work in close coordination.
He directed the officials to complete ongoing projects within the stipulated time, ensure the quality of work and accelerate practical measures aimed at providing maximum civic facilities to the citizens.
