LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 19th Aug, 2026) Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said removing the sense of deprivation among the people of South Punjab remained her government’s foremost priority.
She added that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) believed in delivering tangible development rather than making hollow slogans and false promises.
She expressed these views during a meeting with Members of the Punjab Assembly (MPAs) from Muzaffargarh, here on Wednesday, in which the country’s political situation and ongoing development projects in South Punjab came under discussion.
The CM said bringing development and creating opportunities for the people of backward and underserved areas was the greatest satisfaction for her government. She recalled that she had personally supervised rescue and relief operations in South Punjab during last year’s floods and expressed her commitment to ensuring balanced development across the province.
During the meeting, the lawmakers paid tribute to the chief minister for launching record development initiatives in South Punjab and thanked her for introducing the electric bus service and the clean drinking water project in Muzaffargarh.
They said the chief minister had set a remarkable example by launching major development projects from South Punjab, adding that her sincere public service had won the hearts of the people of the region. They further observed that her special attention had transformed the prospects of previously neglected areas.
The MPAs said thousands of commuters were benefiting daily from the electric bus service operating on routes from Fazal Pur to Khanpur Baga Sher, Railway Crossing to Mahmood Mills, and Jhang Mor to Turki Hospital and the Railway Crossing.
They also appreciated the construction and rehabilitation of link roads in Muzaffargarh under the Chief Minister Local Roads Programme, saying the initiative had significantly improved connectivity and facilitated the public.
