MULTAN, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Aug, 2026) Punjab Food Authority (PFA) teams continued a crackdown against elements compromising food safety by inspecting sweets units,restaurants,milk shops,bakeries and other food businesses across Multan,Khanewal,Vehari and Lodhran and imposing fines on several violators,here on Tuesday.
Acting on special directions of Director General(DG) Punjab Food Authority(PFA),the teams took action against food businesses over adulteration, poor hygiene and other violations of food safety regulations.
In Multan,four sweets units located in Muslim Town Sher Shah,Hassan Parwana Colony,islam Nagar near Wahdat Colony and Rana Colony, Shah Rukn-e-Alam were collectively fined Rs.110,000 for using China salt in food preparation, adulterating sweets with artificial colours and maintaining poor hygiene standards.
In Lodhran,a beverage plant in Yusuf Colony,Kahror Pakka, was ordered to suspend production until corrective measures were taken after its water sample failed quality tests.
A milk tanker inspected at Pull 60 Hazaran was also found without proper purchase and sale records.The operator was fined Rs.15,000 after 1,000 liters of milk were tested.
In Khanewal,two bakeries located at Vehari Mor,Chakothra and Shaheed Road,Mian Channu were fined Rs.40,000 for failing to produce medical certificates of workers, storing food directly on the floor and the presence of dead insects in sugar syrup.
Meanwhile,an ice factory on Tibba Road,Mitro,Mailsi was fined Rs.25,000 for extremely poor sanitation and violations of PFA regulations.
During the operations,the teams also discarded 600 liters of ice water, 19 liters of expired beverages and nine kilograms of China salt.
The PFA urged citizens to report food safety violations by contacting its helpline at 1223.
