LARKANA, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Aug, 2026) On the final day of the ongoing Sports Festival in District Larkana, organized by the Sports Department of Sindh in connection with Pakistan‘s 80th Independence Day celebration, the Girls’ Badminton Championship was held at Officers Club Larkana on Tuesday, in which female students from various schools and colleges of District Larkana participated enthusiastically.
The chief guest of the event was Additional Deputy Commissioner (One) Larkana, Ghunzafar Ali Shah, while the other guests included Zafarullah Abbasi, General Secretary of the Larkana Badminton Association Anila Abro, Senior Director of Physical education at Government Arts and Commerce College Larkana and Mona, Director of Physical Education at Government Begum Nusrat Bhutto Girls College Larkana.
On this occasion, Ghunzafar Ali Shah said that organizing sports competitions in connection with Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day celebration is extremely important for creating a healthy environment among the youth. He said that especially by providing better sports opportunities to female students, their talents can be highlighted and they get opportunities to progress.
He appreciated participation of female students from various schools and colleges and said that healthy activities like badminton play an important role in the physical and mental training of the young generation.
He further said that such competitions not only attract youth towards positive activities but also encourage them to demonstrate their talents at the district, provincial, and national levels in the future.
On this occasion, he praised the Sindh government and especially the Sports Department, saying, “I congratulate them on successfully organizing these competitions in this series.”
In the badminton matches, exciting and tough competitions took place between the teams of various schools and colleges, in which the female players displayed excellent performance. After the tough competition, Government Girls College Larkana, demonstrating outstanding performance, was declared the winning team, while Government B.N.B Girls College Larkana remained the runner-up.
The Guests also presented trophies and prizes to the winning and runner-up teams, congratulated the female players, and praised their performance. On this occasion, the organizers and guests appreciated the holding of such wonderful sports competitions in connection with Pakistan’s Independence Day and said that providing more sports opportunities to the youth is an important need of the time.
On the occasion, District Sports Officer Larkana, Muhammad Mahfooz Makani, and others were also present.
