KARACHI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Aug, 2026) Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi chaired a meeting of the Provincial Paigham-e-Aman Committee on Tuesday at his office.
Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi Azad Khan, religious scholars from different schools of thought, and representatives of various faiths attended the meeting.
The participants welcomed the establishment of the Paigham-e-Aman Committee and expressed their commitment to working together to promote harmony and unity. They said they would work with mutual respect and tolerance for the development, stability, and prosperity of the country.
The commissioner said that the Paigham-e-Aman Committee would play an active role in promoting peace and strengthening dialogue among different segments of society. He emphasized that religious scholars and leaders have an important role to play in promoting harmony in society.
The meeting decided that leaders of all schools of thought would demonstrate cooperation, friendship, love, and tolerance during each other’s religious events.
It was also decided to strengthen coordination between religious leaders and the Karachi administration and police.
The administration and police would provide all possible assistance and cooperation for the organization of their religious events.
In this regard, the meeting decided to appoint a focal person to strengthen coordination between committee members, the administration, and the police. It was decided that Additional Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Atif would work as coordinator.
The meeting also decided to create a WhatsApp group comprising committee members, the administration, and police officials to facilitate coordination.
Special Secretary of the Auqaf and Zakat Department Attaullah Bukhari, Additional Commissioner Muhammad Atif, Mufti Nauman Naeemi, Mufti Rafi-ur-Rehman, Allama Syed Athar Hussain Mashhadi, Mufti Muhammad Nazir Jan Naeemi, Maulana Nazir Ahmed Naeemi, Mufti Yahya Majeed, Sardar Ramesh Singh Khalsa, Goswami Vijay Kumar Geer Maharaj, and others attended the meeting.
