ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 17th Aug, 2026) The National Assembly on Monday offered Fateha for lawmakers, relatives of parliamentarians, security personnel and civilians who recently died in different incidents.
Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq informed the House about the death of former Member National Assembly (MNA) Muhammad Iqbal Channar from Bahawalpur. He was the father of Deputy Speaker, Punjab Assembly, Malik Zaheer Iqbal.
The House also offered Fateha for former MNAs Malik Mukhtar Ahmad Awan, Fouzia Habib and Begum Nafisa Khalid.
Fateha was also offered for the mother of Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, the mother of Syed Waseem Hussain and the brother-in-law of Tahira Aurangzeb.
The House also offered Fateha for the young son of Speaker Balochistan Assembly, Abdul Khaliq Khan Achakzai. He was around 21 or 22 years old.
The Speaker said 15 people had drowned in a canal in Kot Addu. He also said 35 workers had died in a gas explosion at a coal mine in Balochistan. The House offered Fateha for the victims.
Fateha was also offered for security personnel who embraced martyrdom while fighting terrorists.
The Speaker specifically mentioned Major Hafiz Ihsan Elahi and Captain Hamza Akram among the martyred personnel.
MNA Muhammad Numan led the Fateha.
