LARKANA, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 17th Aug, 2026) As part of the celebrations of Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, a football match was organized by Larkana Sports at the Municipal Stadium Larkana on Monday. The Chief Guest of the event was Mayor of Municipal Corporation Larkana, Advocate Anwar Ali Luhur. General Secretary Football Association Muhammad Ismail Brohi, District Sports Officer Larkana Muhammad Mahfooz Makani and others were also present on the occasion.
The match was played between Green Football Club Larkana and White Football Club Larkana. White Football Club Larkana secured victory by scoring two goals, while Green Football Club Larkana remained the runner-up without scoring a goal.
The Mayor of Municipal Corporation Larkana, General Secretary Football Association, District Sports Officer Larkana, and other officials distributed trophies and prizes among the winning and runner-up teams.
Speaking on the occasion Mayor Municipal Corporation Larkana, Advocate Anwar Ali Luhur, also announced cash prizes for the players of both teams. He said that Pakistan is a great country and we must work together for its development and prosperity, as the country was achieved through great sacrifices and struggle.
He said that the Sindh Government is promoting healthy activities among the youth by providing and revitalizing sports grounds so that young people can demonstrate their abilities through sports and move forward in life.He further said that we should value our independence and work day and night for the development and progress of the country.
Earlier, the national anthem of Pakistan was played. The guests were also presented with traditional Sindhi Ajraks by the Sports Department, and the players of both teams were introduced to the guests. On the occasion, spectators and citizens raised slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad.
”
In the same connection, a table tennis competition for girls was also organized by Larkana Sports Department, in which teams from various schools and colleges participated. In the exciting table tennis competition, the team of Government Girls College Larkana demonstrated outstanding performance and secured first position, winning the championship, while the team of Government Begum Nusrat Bhutto Girls College Larkana secured second position and remained runner-up.
Professor Karam Hussain Wadho, Regional Director Colleges Larkana, said that along with education, sports activities also play an important role in developing the personality of girls. He said that organizing such sports competitions on the occasion of Independence Day provides girls with a healthy environment and helps them become physically and mentally stronger. He further said that girls should actively participate in sports along with their education, as sports provide them with an opportunity to showcase their abilities and bring pride to the country and nation.
He appreciated the Sindh Government and the Sports Department for organizing sports competitions in connection with the 79th Independence Day celebrations and congratulated all the participating players of the table tennis competition. He also appreciated the winning team for its excellent performance.
