ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 15th Aug, 2026) President Asif Ali Zardari, Saturday, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and damage caused by the powerful earthquake that struck off Flores Island in eastern Indonesia.
“On behalf of the people of Pakistan, the President extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and expressed solidarity with the Government and people of Indonesia in this difficult hour.
He said Pakistan stands ready to extend all possible assistance,” a post on X, shared by President Secretariat Media Wing, said.
The president also prayed for the swift recovery of those injured in the earthquake.
According to media reports, quoting officials, at least 38 people had been killed after a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck the island of Flores shortly before 05:00 local time on Saturday.
A large number of buildings in the region were also damaged by the quake.
