LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 15th Aug, 2026) A ceremony was held at the Lahore office of the Press Information Department (PID) on Friday to mark Pakistan’s 79th years of Independence, with Director General PID Lahore Shafqat Abbas in the chair.
Prominent journalists, senior media representatives and members of the journalistic community attended the ceremony, including Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari, senior journalists Salman Ghani, Malik Salman, Shahbaz Arain and Hafiz Iqbal.
The participants cut an Independence Day cake with national spirit and expressed their good wishes for Pakistan’s development, prosperity, security and stability.
On the occasion, tribute was paid to the sacrifices rendered by the founders of Pakistan and leaders of the freedom movement for the creation of the country.
The participants reaffirmed their commitment to continue playing a positive and effective role in promoting national development, democratic stability and unity.
They also pledged to highlight the importance and value of Pakistan’s independence and create awareness among the younger generation about the objectives of the Pakistan Movement, national responsibilities and the significance of freedom.
The ceremony concluded with prayers for Pakistan’s security, sovereignty, peace, prosperity and stability.
