SARGODHA, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 14th Aug, 2026) A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the green area of the Commissioner’s Office to mark Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, with senior civil and police officers, parliamentarians, and representatives of various departments in attendance.
Commissioner Sargodha Division Hafiz Shaukat Ali, Regional Police Officer Shahzad Asif Khan, Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry, District Police Officer Tauqeer Muhammad Naeem, MNAs Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti and Irum Hamid Hameed, former parliamentarian Chaudhry Hamid Hameed, and heads and officers of divisional and district departments participated in the ceremony.
The national flag was hoisted amid patriotic fervour, as a smartly turned-out police contingent presented a salute. The police band played the national anthem and patriotic melodies, adding to the spirit of the occasion.
Speaking at the ceremony, Commissioner Hafiz Shaukat Ali described Pakistan as a great blessing from Allah Almighty and said its independence was secured through the sacrifices of the nation’s forefathers.
He called for unity, honesty and hard work to build a stronger and more prosperous Pakistan.
RPO Shahzad Asif Khan paid tribute to those who sacrificed for the creation of Pakistan and said the police remained committed to maintaining peace and protecting the lives and property of citizens.
Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry urged citizens to translate the spirit of Independence Day into practical efforts for the country’s development, stability and prosperity.
MNA Irum Hamid Hameed stressed the importance of passing Pakistan’s national values and the spirit behind its creation on to the younger generation, while Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti called for setting aside political and personal differences in the larger national interest.
The ceremony concluded with the cutting of a cake by Commissioner Hafiz Shaukat Ali and other guests. Special prayers were offered for Pakistan’s security, stability, progress and prosperity.
