PESHAWAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 12th Aug, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has intensified its crackdown on food adulteration, conducting inspections and taking action against violators in Peshawar, Nowshera and Swat.
In Peshawar, the authority sealed a spice manufacturing unit on Charsadda Road after its inspection team recovered and seized around 1,200 kilograms of bran during a raid. Legal proceedings were also initiated against the unit for violating food safety regulations.
In Swat, food safety teams inspected factories producing pops and nimko and found violations related to hygiene, production, storage and packaging standards. The violators were fined accordingly.
The authority’s mobile food testing laboratory also conducted on-the-spot testing of milk samples in Swat.
After detecting adulteration with skimmed milk powder, officials discarded 1,000 litres of substandard milk.
Meanwhile, food safety teams in Nowshera seized and destroyed 80 kilograms of hazardous chicken parts and 1,200 litres of substandard beverages. A total of 115 cartons of beverages were also confiscated, while fines were imposed on those found violating food safety laws.
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Food Dr Muhammad Israr Khan appreciated the teams for their action and said no compromise would be made on food safety standards.
He said strict and indiscriminate action would continue against elements involved in food adulteration and the sale of substandard and unsafe food across the province.
