PMAS, Nazarbayev University Sign MoU To Strengthen Academic Cooperation

RAWALPINDI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 11th Aug, 2026) Pir Mehr Ali Shah-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) and Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote cooperation in research, faculty, student exchanges, educational activities and other areas of mutual interest.

The MoU was signed during a visit by a high-level delegation of Nazarbayev University to Barani University. The delegation included Professor Rehan Sadiq, Director of Marketing Daniyar Donymagambetov and other university officials.

Associate Dean of the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada, Dr Aitzaz A. Farooq, was also present on the occasion and contributed to strengthening academic links between the two institutions.

Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR Professor Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman welcomed the delegation.

During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor briefed the delegation on the university’s academic and research activities, development projects and measures aimed at improving the quality of higher education and research.

He said international academic partnerships played an important role in strengthening research capacity, sharing expertise and creating new opportunities for faculty and students.

Professor Rehan briefed the participants on Nazarbayev University’s academic programmes, research areas and modern facilities. He appreciated the educational and technical initiatives at PMAS-AAUR and expressed hope that the partnership would lead to meaningful and long-term cooperation.

The delegation also visited the university’s research and innovation facilities, including the Centre for Precision Agriculture, National Centre of Industrial Biotechnology, Green AI Hydroponic Unit and Centre for Modern Agriculture and Water-Efficient Technologies.

The visiting delegation expressed interest in the university’s modern research facilities and technologies and appreciated its efforts to promote research and innovation.

At the conclusion of the visit, Barani University presented commemorative shields to the Nazarbayev University delegation as a token of goodwill and friendship.
