MULTAN, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 11th Aug, 2026) Punjab Food Authority (PFA) launched a crackdown on elements involved in the preparation
of substandard food products, imposing a fine of Rs500,000 on a juice manufacturing plant
in the Industrial Estate and destroyed 20 maunds of rotten and foul-smelling mangoes.
The operation was conducted by a PFA food safety team under the supervision of Director
Operations South Rameez Zafar on the direction of PFA Director General Raja Mansoor Ahmed.
During the inspection, the team recovered a large quantity of rotten mangoes that were
intended for the preparation of mango pulp and juice.
The inspection team also found an
excessive presence of insects in the cold storage along with extremely poor sanitation
and hygiene conditions.
The PFA authorities said the seized rotten mangoes were destroyed on the spot,
while the juice plant was fined Rs500,000 for violating food safety regulations.
PFA Director General Raja Mansoor Ahmed said that strict action would be taken
against those found compromising food safety standards. He maintained that adulteration,
negligence and violations of food laws in the preparation of food products would
not be tolerated.
