RAWALPINDI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 11th Aug, 2026) The four-day anti-polio campaign being conducted across all tehsils and towns of Rawalpindi district entered its second day on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the District Health Office Rawalpindi said more than 157,000 children had so far been administered polio vaccine drops.
He informed that more than 32,000 children were vaccinated in Cantt, 35,000 in City, 61,000 in Rural and 29,000 in Taxila tehsils.
A target of vaccinating more than 774,000 children under five had been set for the campaign, with more than 3,000 mobile teams taking part.
He said frontline workers were engaged in the national effort to protect children from disability, adding that public cooperation was essential for polio eradication.
Parents whose children could not be reached by vaccination teams were advised to call the Polio Eradication Programme helpline at 1166. Families travelling during the campaign were also urged to have their children vaccinated at bus stands, railway stations and other designated points.
He said polio was an incurable disease that could cause lifelong disability, while every dose strengthened a child’s immunity.
