MULTAN, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 11th Aug, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has fined a juice processing plant Rs.500,000 after officials found around 20 maunds of rotten mangoes at its premises in the Industrial Estate area,here on Tuesday.
The action was taken during an inspection conducted under the supervision of PFA Director Operations South Rameez Zafar.
Officials said the mangoes were foul-smelling and unfit for human consumption and were allegedly intended for use in the preparation of mango pulp and juice.The seized stock was destroyed on the spot,according to the authority.
During the inspection,PFA officials also found heavy insect infestation in the plant’s cold storage,along with poor sanitation and hygiene conditions.
PFA Director General(DG),Raja Mansoor Ahmed said strict action would be taken against food businesses found compromising public health.
He said adulteration,negligence and malpractice in food preparation would not be tolerated and that the authority would continue inspections and enforcement operations to ensure the supply of safe and quality food to consumers.
