Dera Ismail Khan, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 9th Aug, 2026) The Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC) Dera Ismail Khan has introduced a GPS-based tracking system for its sanitation vehicles to enhance transparency, accountability and operational efficiency in municipal sanitation services.
The initiative, launched under the public agenda of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, is aimed at strengthening monitoring of sanitation operations and ensuring effective utilization of the company’s vehicles and field resources across the city.
Under the new system, GPS trackers have been installed in all sanitation vehicles, enabling real-time monitoring of their locations and movement. The system will also facilitate supervision of daily sanitation activities and help ensure that vehicles remain available for their assigned duties.
The technology is expected to improve operational discipline, minimize unnecessary delays and facilitate timely response to public complaints by providing an effective mechanism for monitoring field activities and vehicle deployment.
Chairman board of Directors/Chief Executive Officer WSSC DIKhan Naimat Ullah Khan said the installation of GPS trackers was an important step towards introducing modern technology into municipal service delivery.
He said the system would ensure greater transparency in sanitation operations by enabling real-time monitoring of vehicles and helping the management assess field performance, adherence to schedules and utilization of resources more effectively.
Naimat Ullah Khan said WSSC was committed to adopting modern and technology-based solutions to improve sanitation services and ensure a prompt and efficient response to citizens’ complaints. He added that the initiative would further strengthen institutional accountability and improve public confidence in municipal services.
The WSSC said the GPS-based monitoring system would contribute to better planning, supervision and management of sanitation operations and help ensure more efficient use of available resources for providing cleaner and healthier surroundings to citizens.
The company also urged citizens to cooperate with sanitation teams and play their role in maintaining cleanliness, stressing that keeping the city clean was a shared responsibility.
