KARACHI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 9th Aug, 2026) The headquarters of the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (Sepa) has become a centre of attraction for citizens as the agency’s building was illuminated with green lights on the occasion of Independence Day.
The interior and exterior of the building were decorated in a distinctive green theme to highlight the message of an environment-friendly Pakistan and a Green Sindh.
The main facade featured a combination of green, red and other colours representing the national colours of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, highlighting the recent Makkah Joint Defence Agreement and the strong fraternal and strategic ties between the three countries.
Speaking on the occasion, Sindh Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Coastal Development Faisal Uqaili said the green illumination of Sepa’s building was aimed at spreading the message of environmental protection alongside the spirit of Independence Day.
He said the historic, religious and fraternal ties between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye were of great importance, adding that the recent joint defence agreement signed in Makkah had further highlighted the significance of cooperation and solidarity among the three countries.
The special decoration of the Sepa building, he said, reflected the spirit of friendship and brotherhood.
Sepa Director General Ashiq Langah said the agency marked national days in innovative ways to promote environmental awareness.
He said decorating the building in a green theme on Independence Day was intended to convey the message that protecting the environment was also a national responsibility alongside celebrating freedom.
He said promoting tree plantation, reducing air pollution, protecting natural resources and ensuring a clean environment were essential for securing a better future for coming generations.
The Sepa chief urged citizens to adopt environment friendly lifestyles and play their part in making Sindh greener and cleaner.
