PDMA Releases Fact Sheet On Monsoon Rains, Flood Situation


LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 9th Aug, 2026) Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released a fact sheet on monsoon rains

and possible flood situation in the province, which includes details of the damage caused by

recent rains.

According to the PDMA, monsoon rains were recorded in most districts of Punjab during the

last 24 hours. Despite the rains, drainage was ensured in the shortest possible time due to

advance arrangements and availability of necessary machinery.

According to the authority, 54 citizens died in rain-related incidents and 328 people sustained

injuries in various accidents during the monsoon rains this year.

According to the fact sheet, 114 mm of rain was recorded at Lahore Airport while 13 mm was

recorded in Faisalabad.

On the direction of Chief Minister Punjab, continuous monitoring of rivers, dams and barrages

was underway in the province. Low-level flood situation persists at Kalabagh, Chashma and

Taunsa places in the Indus River.

The water level in Tarbela Dam was recorded 99 percent, in Mangla Dam 64 percent, in Thane

Dam 50 percent, in Aqar Pong Dam 47 percent while the water level in Bhakra Dam was recorded

43 percent.

The PDMA appealed to the citizens to take precautionary measures during the rainy season

and avoid unnecessary movement near rivers, canals and other low-lying areas.
