LAHORE (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 9th Aug, 2026) The Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA) has announced that more than 80 leading foreign buyers from various countries are expected to participate in the 42nd international carpet exhibition scheduled to be held in Lahore in October. The association has finalized a comprehensive strategy to make the event a major platform for promoting Pakistan’s handmade carpets, expanding export opportunities and strengthening the industry’s presence in international markets, with preparations being carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).
A meeting of the Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA) was chaired by PCMEA Chairman Mian Atiq-ur-Rehman and Exhibition Chairman Riaz Ahmed. Patron-in-Chief Abdul Latif Malik, Carpet Training Institute Chairperson Ijaz-ur-Rehman, senior member Usman Ashraf, Saeed Khan and other members attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed in detail the preparations for the international exhibition, arrangements for effective communication with foreign buyers, security measures for their visit to Pakistan, promotional activities and other administrative matters.
Participants were informed that more than 80 prominent importers from different countries were expected to visit Pakistan for the event. Their participation would help further strengthen the access of Pakistan’s handmade carpets to international markets while creating new opportunities for manufacturers and exporters.
The meeting also discussed various components of a comprehensive strategy aimed at ensuring the success of the exhibition, with different responsibilities assigned to relevant individuals and committees.
It was decided that special business-to-business (B2B) meetings would be arranged on the sidelines of the exhibition between foreign buyers and Pakistani manufacturers and exporters. The meetings would provide an opportunity to explore new trade agreements, joint ventures and additional export avenues.
The organizers will also seek feedback and suggestions from foreign buyers on emerging trends, changing international market requirements and products with future export potential. Their input would help the Pakistani carpet industry adapt its production and designs in line with evolving global demand.
Speaking at the meeting, PCMEA Chairman Mian Atiq-ur-Rehman and Exhibition Chairman Riaz Ahmed appreciated the Ministry of Commerce and TDAP for their continued support in organizing the international exhibition and promoting Pakistan’s exports.
They said that government support was helping Pakistan’s carpet industry strengthen its identity and recognition in international markets. They expressed confidence that the upcoming exhibition would be more successful than previous editions and would contribute significantly to increasing the country’s carpet exports.
Mian Atiq-ur-Rehman and Riaz Ahmed said the international exhibition would prove to be a historic milestone for Pakistan’s carpet industry. They noted that the event would not only help expand exports but also provide an important platform to showcase Pakistan’s traditional craftsmanship, cultural heritage and high-quality handmade products to buyers and consumers in global markets.
