LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 9th Aug, 2026) Punjab University (PU) on Sunday organised speech and documentary competitions as part of the ongoing National Minority Week celebrations, being held on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Provincial Minister for Minorities Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora attended the event as the chief guest and appreciated the outstanding talent, creativity and confidence displayed by students from across Punjab.
Addressing the participants, the minister said the country’s youth were its greatest asset and expressed the hope that they would excel in their respective fields and project a positive image of Pakistan across the world. He urged young people to play a leading role internationally and contribute to national development in line with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
He said the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, was promoting constructive and positive activities for minority communities and youth, providing them with opportunities to showcase their abilities and contribute to the country’s progress.
Referring to the country’s leadership, Arora said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir had enhanced Pakistan’s stature internationally, urging the younger generation to carry forward this legacy through hard work and dedication.
In the urdu speech competition, Hafiz Abdul Rehman secured first position, Aiman stood second and Hammad Rehman finished third. In the English speech contest, Muzammil claimed first position, Fareed Khan secured second and Saad-ul-Hasan finished third. In the documentary competition, Ayesha Akram won first prize, Amir Khan Malizai secured second while Dr. Atif Ashraf stood third.
The minister announced that winners of the competitions would be presented awards during the National Minority Day ceremony to be held on August 11.
