Use Of Flashers, HID Lights Banned: 17,000 Challan Tickets Issued

LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 8th Aug, 2026) A strict crackdown has been ordered in Punjab against the illegal use of flashers and HID lights.

DIG Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir has directed to intensify action against prohibited

lights to prevent accidents and ensure safe travel of citizens.

According to the spokesperson, accident analysis has revealed that flashers and HID lights are

becoming a major cause of road accidents. The bright light of high beams and HID lights affects

visibility of drivers coming from the opposite direction, which increases the risk of accidents.

Strict action is being taken against substandard and bright lights across Punjab. This year, more

than 17,000 challan tickets have been issued for using prohibited lights, while Lahore Traffic Police

has fined more than 5,000 drivers for using flashers and HID lights.

DIG Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir has clarified that the use of flashers and HID lights

is prohibited on all vehicles. He said that to ensure the safe travel of citizens, the use of illegal

and bright lights on vehicles will be stopped at all costs.
