RAWALPINDI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 8th Aug, 2026) Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Salman Ghani held a meeting of the Environmental Approval Committee and approved 12 cases for the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
Commissioner directed that the cases from Attock District be presented in the next meeting along with updated reports, zoning details and mapping.
He further instructed that, at the next meeting, inspectors of the Environment Protection Department should submit detailed reports regarding all NOCs issued so far within their respective jurisdictions.
The inspectors were directed to conduct on-site inspections to ensure full compliance with all conditions stipulated in the construction NOCs and subsequent operational NOCs.
Commissioner Salman Ghani emphasized that the NOC approval process should be expedited to facilitate economic activity and create employment opportunities.
He further directed the Environment Protection Department to not only take effective measures to prevent environmental pollution but also raise public awareness about green energy conservation and encourage the development of rooftop gardens.
The meeting, held at the Commissioner Office Rawalpindi, was attended by Dr. Imama Gul, Environmental Sciences expert from Fatima Jinnah Women University, Dr. Saadia, Deputy Director Environment, environmental consultants and other relevant officials.
During the meeting, the Environmental Approval Committee reviewed 22 cases submitted by the sub-committee, including 3 cases from Rawalpindi District, 8 from Chakwal, 10 from Attock, and 1 from Jhelum. After a detailed review, Commissioner approved the cases from Rawalpindi, Chakwal and Jhelum, while directing the Deputy Commissioner Attock to resubmit the district’s 10 cases in the next meeting with updated reports. Commissioner also instructed the concerned departments to encourage applicants who have obtained NOCs to commence their projects at the earliest, thereby contributing to economic development and employment generation.
