PESHAWAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 7th Aug, 2026) Police arrested eight suspects and recovered a cache of firearms in separate operations in Peshawar and Bannu as part of an intensified campaign against aerial firing and the unlawful display of weapons.
In Bannu, Saddar Police rounded up five suspects during a snap checking operation conducted under a district-wide drive against criminal elements.
Police recovered five Kalashnikov rifles and a pistol from the accused and registered separate cases before launching further investigations.
In a separate operation in Peshawar, Regi Police arrested three suspects, including a bridegroom, for allegedly resorting to celebratory aerial firing during an engagement ceremony and displaying firearms in public.
Two Kalashnikov rifles, two pistols and several rounds of ammunition were seized during the raid.
Police said the operations were carried out on the directives of senior officers as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal weapons and prevent incidents that endanger public safety.
Officials reaffirmed that indiscriminate action against aerial firing, illegal arms possession and other activities posing a threat to law and order would continue across the province.
