Punjab Launches Rs2.16b Civic Upgrade For 18 Villlages In Sargodha

SARGODHA, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6th Aug, 2026) Development work on projects worth Rs2.16 billion is under way in 18 villages of Sargodha district under the Punjab government’s Model Village Programme, aimed at providing urban-standard civic facilities to rural communities.

This was stated by Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry while presiding over a meeting here on Thursday.

The DC said the Model Village Programme was a flagship initiative of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and stressed that no compromise would be made on construction quality or project timelines.

He directed the departments concerned to immediately begin work on all schemes whose scope had been finalised, warning that negligence, delays or poor workmanship would not be tolerated.

He also instructed officials to ensure strict compliance with timelines and maintain high construction standards so that durable and quality facilities could be provided to residents.

The meeting was informed that under Phase-I, development schemes worth Rs2.16 billion were being executed in 18 villages across the district. The projects include construction of PCC roads, upgradation of drainage systems, installation of tuff tiles, underground water storage tanks, water supply schemes, tube wells, overhead water tanks and other municipal infrastructure.

Officials said Phase-I covered four villages in Shahpur, two in Sahiwal, seven in Sargodha, two in Bhalwal, one in Bhera and two in Sillanwali, while additional villages would be included under Phase-II of the programme.

The deputy commissioner directed the relevant departments to regularly monitor the projects, ensure quality standards and complete all development schemes within the stipulated timeframe so that the public could benefit without delay.

The meeting was attended by District Council Chief Officer Asad Hariya, consultants, monitoring officers and other relevant officials.
