LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6th Aug, 2026) In a meeting of the provincial cabinet chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, important decisions related to local government elections, wheat procurement, health, education, transport, local governments and various development projects were approved.
The cabinet approved funds of Rs 12.522498 billion for holding local government elections in Punjab. The meeting also approved the purchase of 1 million metric tons of wheat from PASSCO at the rate of Rs 4,150 per 40 kg.
The meeting also approved the provision of 5,000 laptops to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government and an equity injection of Rs 3 billion in Bank of Punjab.
The provincial cabinet also approved the budget of the Chief Minister’s Health and Population Initiatives, the supplementary budget of the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Program, Apna Khet Apna Rozgar Program and the plan to provide electric buses in various districts.
The meeting also approved administrative decisions related to traffic enforcement and law and order on the Rawalpindi Ring Road, a summary related to the Punjab Water and Sanitation Authority Fund, and measures for the improvement of Lahore and Faisalabad Water and Sanitation Agencies.
The cabinet also approved amendments to the Punjab Industries Ordinance 2026, the Punjab Local Government (Birth and Death Registration) Rules 2024, the draft of the Punjab Assets Management Authority Ordinance 2026, and the establishment of the Maryam Nawaz Sharif Medical College and Teaching Hospital in Mianwali.
The meeting also approved the establishment of the Lahore Heritage Area Revival Board and appointment of its chairman, relaxation of the ban on recruitment in various government institutions, several summaries of new recruitment, provision of anti-rabies vaccine to the Balochistan government, summary regarding ban on provocative speakers, new rules regarding child labor in Punjab and legal amendments related to the Motor Vehicle Scrappage and Buyback Program.
Furthermore, the cabinet also approved appointments and nominations in various boards and authorities, including the Punjab Tourism and Heritage Authority.
