ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6th Aug, 2026) The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to significantly enhance commercial ties between Pakistan and Iran.
The MoU was signed during the closing ceremony of the 10th session of the Pakistan-Iran Joint Trade Committee by FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh and ICCIMA Vice President Hossein Pirmoazzen, said a press release issued by the FPCCI.
The two-day Joint Trade Committee meeting was co-chaired by Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Iran’s Minister for Industry, Mines and Trade Dr Mohammad Atabak. The two sides held detailed discussions on expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation and agreed on a comprehensive roadmap to address challenges facing the business communities of both countries.
The agreement aims to promote barter trade, strengthen business-to-business linkages, enhance industrial cooperation and investment, and increase private-sector engagement.
It also seeks to facilitate the implementation of bilateral trade agreements and activate joint border markets to boost cross-border trade.
Speaking on the occasion, FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh described the holding of the Joint Trade Committee session as a historic milestone in Pakistan-Iran economic relations and reaffirmed the commitment of Pakistan’s business community to work closely with its Iranian counterparts to achieve the shared objective of increasing bilateral trade to $10 billion.
He welcomed the comprehensive plan agreed upon by both governments to address border-related trade issues and stressed the need for sustained collaboration between the business communities of the two countries.
The FPCCI president expressed confidence that stronger institutional cooperation between FPCCI and ICCIMA would create new opportunities for trade, investment, industrial partnerships and regional economic integration.
