LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 5th Aug, 2026) Punjab Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee for Disaster Management Khawaja Salman Rafique on Wednesday said that all necessary arrangements had been completed well in time to effectively deal with possible floods and riverine flooding across the province.
He was chairing a meeting at the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Headquarters, held on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to review preparedness for monsoon rains and potential flood situations. The meeting particularly reviewed the overall flood situation in DG Khan Division, while Commissioner DG Khan and Director General PDMA briefed participants on the latest developments.
The minister said the Punjab government had provided modern machinery and rescue equipment worth billions of rupees to Rescue 1122 and other relevant departments to strengthen disaster response and safeguard lives and property during floods and other natural calamities.
He said adequate resources had been allocated for flood prevention measures in all districts, including DG Khan, adding that the overall situation across Punjab remained under control.
Khawaja Salman Rafique said the government was ensuring the safe evacuation of residents and livestock from areas vulnerable to flooding. He added that all available resources were being fully utilized to protect people from the impact of monsoon rains and possible floods.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner DG Khan Ashfaq Ahmed Chaudhry, Director General PDMA Saif Anwar Jappa, deputy commissioners of Layyah, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addo and DG Khan, along with officials from Rescue 1122, Livestock, Irrigation departments, assistant commissioners and other relevant officers through video link.
