LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 4th Aug, 2026) Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) Chief Executive Officer Mian Kashif Ashfaq has said interior design had become an integral part of the industrial sector due to its growing role in enhancing productivity, workplace efficiency and corporate identity.
Addressing the inauguration of the Interior Design Thesis Show 2026 at the Department of Art and Design, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), here on Tuesday, he said modern interior design was no longer limited to aesthetics but had become an essential element of industrial planning.
He said well-designed workplaces improved employee comfort, fostered creativity and ensured optimum utilization of available space, ultimately contributing to higher productivity and operational excellence.
Highlighting the potential of Pakistan’s furniture and interior design industry, Kashif said the sector was well positioned to meet the evolving requirements of factories, corporate offices and commercial establishments.
He urged students and faculty members to adopt innovative designs, eco-friendly materials and advanced production technologies to meet international standards and compete effectively in global markets.
LCWU Vice Chancellor Uzma Qureshi said the university had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ChenOne to promote collaboration among designers, architects, manufacturers and industrial stakeholders, encouraging innovation and sustainable development.
Executive Director Corporate ChenOne Maria Tauqir said that with supportive policies, skilled human resources and modern manufacturing practices, Pakistan’s furniture and interior design industry could emerge as a major contributor to economic growth, exports and employment generation.
Later, Mian Kashif Ashfaq visited the students’ thesis exhibition and appreciated their creativity, technical skills and innovative designs showcased under the guidance of the faculty.
